Yankuba Creations
Yankuba Saidy, in The Gambia, is a talented tailor. Purchasing his vibrantly coloured aprons and headbands helps to support him and his family. Yankuba also supports other tailors with work, and trains youngsters, like Kebba, to become self employed. Aprons: £12 each Elasticated Headbands: £6 (2 for £10) Made from wax cotton blend, typical of the fantastic colours found in West Africa The colours do not fade, and the apron softens when washed. All proceeds go directly to Yankuba. |

Bògòlanfini / Mud Cloth
£25 each. This beautiful cotton cloth is handmade in Mali, traditionally dyed with fermented mud. Each pattern and cloth is unique. The 'Traditional' cloth is woven cotton strips, dyed and sown together. Approx 104 x 152cm The cloth is a bit thicker, and a wee bit smaller than the one piece. great for a small blanket or throw. The one piece is thinner, ideal for sewing, or using as a throw. Approx 114 x 185cm |
