Ancient breathing practices and modern science are converging
to re-ignite the beautiful and powerful autonomic practice of simply being alive - breath. The average person, often unconsciously, breathes 20 000 times per day. Throughout this day, whether we are aware of it or not, there are many subtle changes in our breathing that can have profound influences on our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. The Yogi's say breath is the bridge between our mind and body. Although our breath carries on regardless while we do other things, when we became more aware, more awakened and conscious to what our breath is actually up to - when awake and asleep - we can utilize this awareness to enhance our lives in so many ways. Does the way we breathe help or hinder us on our life journey? What actually happens when we ... take a deep breath? Is our 'normal' breath pattern natural or helpful? Do we breathe through our mouths without knowing, and so what if we do? These questions, along with interesting anatomical information, practices of ancient and more modern breath practices, are explored in the workshops and classes. We rediscover how these free, accessible and simple changes to the way we breathe can have a positive ripple effect across our minds and bodies. We CAN breathe to thrive, not just survive. |
