JULIAN BAKER
I'm very excited to be hosting my most favourite anatomy teacher of all time for a weekend workshop in March 2025. I attended a dissection with Julian in 2019, and it completely revolutionized my view of human anatomy and movement. Julian is one the world’s most experienced manual therapists, teachers and fascial dissectors and his incredible insights are sure to leave you with expanded knowledge that will boost your confidence and take your practice to the next level. This is a unique opportunity for movement teachers and/or manual therapists, or anyone interested in how your body works. You will be guaranteed to have fun, learn something new and have many perceptions completely blown out the water (in a good way!) |

WORKSHOP CONTENT
Fascia in Movement. Theory and Practice.
The study of anatomy has always been broken down into systems and different parts, to be learned for exams and studied within medical specialties.
For those within the field of manual and movement therapies, these approaches, whilst useful, leave lots of unanswered questions.
As practitioners, we understand the importance of whole body balance in both movement and function and as a result, need a more joined up approach to understanding and studying anatomy that will serve us and our clients more effectively.
This two day class will take you on a journey into the human body to look at anatomy, fascia, touch and movement from a wholly different and more integrated perspective.
We will explore what fascia really is, some of the structures and systems of the body as they relate to manual and movement therapists and examine areas and principles or function, movement, ageing and repair that are rarely considered in more conventional settings.
This workshop calls on evidence gathered in the dissection lab and offers practical and relevant approaches, giving you new insights into the human form.
Included in this workshop:
The new model for anatomy in complementary practice
Different fascias for different jobs and locations. Knowing the differences
Why fat needs fascia!
Exploring the language of fascia. (Release, stretch, tone)
When fascia goes wrong; Injury, repair and scarring and what interventions can influence the process.
The signals that change fascia
Movement and touch techniques that might influence fascia
The role of fluid and fluid movement in the human form
The Extra Cellular Matrix; the bodies internal connected system
Why stretch marks could be fascial
Emotional balance through physical position.
The Pelvic Floor. Not a floor?
Linking the hamstrings to the buttocks: The game changer for movement and injury prevention
The inner ear via the lower legs
Functional assessment techniques
The role of the head and neck in back pain.
